Thanksgiving Tradition

This year we went to Justin's house for Thanksgiving. We had a great time and ate lots of delicious food! One of are favorite parts of Thanksgiving is making fruit cocktail. This is something Justin's dad has been doing since he was a boy. Justin's dad buys a bunch of fruit-apples, grapefruit, bananas, pears, peaches, grapes, oranges and pineapple. Then we all gather together and cut fruit. Anna and Tanner joined in for the first time this year. They cut bananas and Tanner also helped with pears. We had a lot of fun and the cocktail was delicious as always!

Yes! It Snowed!

On Wednesday morning we woke up to snow. Tanner and Anna were ready to run out the door in their pajamas. After much coaxing I convinced them they had to wait until we went and bought some boots! I think everyone at Target was in the same place-the boot aisle. After searching high and low we were able to find boots for both of them! Then it was off to play! They had a great time and we finished it off with some hot chocolate!

Carter joined in getting dressed but didn't get to go outside!

What a cute Red Sox fan!

Now most of the snow is gone and the kids are waiting for more!

Carter is 5 month old

Carter is now 5 1/2 months old. I have been taking pictures of him in the green chair with George so I can see the difference in his growth each month. I take it on the 15th of every month since he was born on that day! (I'm a little slow posting this)

He is a very fun and happy baby. He loves to play on the floor and is trying to crawl already! He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. And when that doesn't get him anywhere he falls forward and then starts all over again. I think soon he will figure out how to move those hands! Tanner and Anna can't seem to get enough of him-which can be good and bad!

Halloween

I thought I would finally post some of our pictures from Halloween and the activities leading up to it! This year we went to a pumpkin patch and picked out our own pumpkins. We had a great time and the kids loved the hunt for the perfect pumpkin. Here are some pictures at the pumpkin patch.

Tanner and Anna loved cleaning out their pumpkins this year. They didn't think it was too gross!

The finished pumpkins. Tanner wanted his pumpkin to have a happy face. Anna wanted her pumpkin to be scary!

Ready to go trick-or-treating!

These are the pictures I had taken of the kids in their costumes!

We had a great Halloween and we are now looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

California

We recently returned from a trip to California. We had a blast. We stayed with Justin's sister Allison and her husband Philip. They were awesome hosts! They fed us well, played with the kids and watched Carter. We went to Disneyland, California Adventure, Legoland, the beach and Seaworld. Tanner loved the cars-Autopia and Anna loved the Merry-go-round at Disneyland. We went on both rides lots of times. Legoland was the perfect place for their ages. They loved all the rides there. My sister, Johi was able to join us at Seaworld. Which was great. And were able to see Andy and Emily for dinner.

It was strange to go back to California as a visitor since I grew up there. It always feels like home when I go back. I felt like a kid at Disneyland and it was fun to be there with my kids.

We had a great time and are looking forward to going next year!

First Day of School

Tanner started his first day of school for his 2nd year of Preschool. He is very excited! His teacher's name is Miss Kristi. He gets to go to school for 3 days this year. After the first day he got in the car and said that school went really fast! So I think that is good sign that he likes it! We are looking forward to learning lots and being able to read by the end of the year! Although the teacher in me is coming out because they sent home some "chunks" he has to learn and not all of them are really "chunks"-we'll see how long I can bite my tongue! Don't get me wrong I love Tanner's school and I am looking forward to this year too!

Swiss Days

Last week was Swiss Days up in Midway. I look forward to it every year. We go up on Thursday night eat dinner, shop at the outlets and stay up late talking and eating treats!

Then the next morning we are up early and on our way to find the lastest and greatest new thing at Swiss Days! This year my favorite prize is a picture of Christ with children by Del Parson. It is now hanging in the hall by my kids rooms. I love it! The hardest part about Swiss days is when it comes to an end-but there is always next year to look forward to. Thanks Nancy for such a great time!

McCall

Well we just returned from our annual Ricks family trip to McCall. We had a great time! Tanner made sure he went tubing at least twice everyday and Anna enjoyed the hot bathtub (hot tub) and playing in the lake. Carter was spoiled being held I think for every nap he took by someone. Justin went golfing 3 times with all the boys and unfortunately came in last place in their tournament. Although he was sick most of the week to give him credit! We ate lots of yummy food-which was my favorite thing next to our whitewater trip down the salmon. Here are some pics of our trip.

We went to church in the barn behind the kids because the church in McCall was being renovated.

We Love Family

We have had lots of family come visit since Carter was born. My mom came 3 times-which was such a blessing with a new baby! Justin's family was here for a weekend, we had the Jones family reunion which brought my dad and brothers into town and Kristi and her family. It was great! It left no time to get the baby blues! Kole and Kristi stayed for two weeks and we had a great time with all the kiddos. Here are some pictures of are fun together.

Carter

Carter joined our family on May 15th. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz. He has a ton of hair and everywhere I go people comment on his hair. So far he hasn't lost any and we are hoping he doesn't. Tanner and Anna love having him around-sometimes too much! They really are great helpers!

We have been busy enjoying Carter and having lots of family visit.

Well I've finally given in to much pressure and decided to do a blog. I do think it will be a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. We moved into our new home at the first of this month. We have been spending the past month getting settled. We love our home and have especially been enjoying our fireplace on the cold winter nights. Although we can't wait for Spring! No more snow!!!

This morning Anna decided to climb her bed without her stool and hit her mouth. She had to have her cut glued shut. Fun, fun, fun! She actually was quite the trooper and held still for most of the glue. Her favorite new activity is to pull all the clothes out of her drawers during naptime. She definitely takes after her mom-I use to do this when I was her age! It's payback time!

Tanner is loving preschool and The Little Gym. He counts everything these days and wants to know his schedule for the day. So we bought him a calendar and he is working on the days of the week and what happens on each of these days. Valentine' s Day was definitely the highlight of the month for Tanner. He thought it was so fun to make Valentines and then to go to school and get a Valentine from everyone!
