Eye Surgery

Tanner had strabismus surgery on both of his eyes this week. Which means his eyes are misaligned and the doctor went in and moved the muscles on the white part of his eyes. We have all been very nervous about the surgery but knew it needed to be done because he would lose depth perception if we didn't do it. There is only an 80% success rate for this surgery too. So far so good with Tanner-we will know better in a month if it worked!

The night before surgery Tanner's two best friends, who are brothers and their family brought Tanner a bear from build a bear with scrubs on and a special message for
Tanner. This bear was very comforting for Tanner and stayed with him the whole time. The nurse even put a hospital tag on him. I love Primary Children's Hospital- they really helped Tanner feel comfortable. He was even able to paint some wooden cars before his surgery. Tanner came out of the anesthesia really well. He was calm and just wanted the slurpee they had told him he would get after the surgery. The hardest thing for him has been wanting to itch his eyes and he isn't supposed to. Now it is just a waiting game to see if the surgery took!
I am also so thankful for all our family and friends who have kept him in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
